Season 2009-2010 at Nürnberg State Theatre
The season started with the revival of Bellini`s drama “I Puritani”, produced by Dieter Kaegi, artistic director of Opera Ireland.
Till January 2010 you can also see the revival of Donizetti`s opera “Dom Sebastien, King of Portugal”. This production is following the concept to find and produce masterpieces, still unknown for the German audience.
The young director David Hermann presents his innovative vision of this historical drama, using dark comics stylistic. After the premiere in Mai 2009, the production attracted plenty of opera fans from abroad to see Donizetti`s last masterpiece discovery.
The next new production “Moise et Pharaon” by Rossini (Moise) is expected at the end of January. In March follows the revival of Giuseppe Verdi`s “Aida” (Ramfis). The season`s last production for me will be “Nabucco” by Verdi (Zaccaria).
